Episode 2 : Sleep Reset – From Tossing & Turning to Deep Rest

Sleep is not a luxury. It’s a tool. A weapon. And for too long, I underestimated its power.

For the longest time, I thought I was doing everything right. Lights off at 10PM, phone tucked away, room dark and quiet. But my brain was partying. I’d toss and turn for hours, staring at the ceiling but my mind just won’t switch off. Even on days I trained hard, my mind stayed wired. Sleep felt like a battlefield I kept losing.

But I don’t settle for chaos. I study patterns. During the Covid lockdown, I uncovered a truth that shifted everything: when my digestion was regular – when I made time to eliminate daily and stopped overeating at dinner – my body sleep better. Clear gut, calm mind.

Then I heard about something called the 4-7-8 breathing method from a health program. I was skeptical, but desperate. I tried it on one of my restless nights – and no, it didn’t magically knock me out in seconds – but it did calm my racing thoughts. That was a start.

Eventually, I realised that sleep – is all about rhythm. I started going to bed at the same time every night, whether or not I felt sleepy. Some nights I still lay awake, but after a while, my body started to catch on. It’s like training a stubborn pet: consistency was the secret.

Now I’m building a sleep routine – same bedtime, gentle breathing, light dinner, and yes… regular bathroom time. Sleep isn’t just about being tired. It’s about alignment. And I’m finally getting there.
