Season 4 : Cardio Respiratory – Sweating Without Suffering Episode 1 : Jazzy Movement – Dancing Out of the Rut

When I stopped chasing calories and started chasing joy

There was a time I only ran to “make up” for meals. Cardio wasn’t about heart health or energy. It was about guilt. It was a sentence I had to serve for daring to enjoy food.

Every session felt like a mental tug-of-war. My body resisted, and my heart sank. I wasn’t motivated. I was miserable. But I told myself I had to. Because movement, in my mind, meant repentance.

Then came the shift.

During lockdown, with the world standing still, I rediscovered what movement could be. It was no longer about reps or red zones. It was about blasting my favourite music and moving with joy.

It felt alive.
It felt fun.
And that’s when it hit me: maybe the problem wasn’t cardio.
Maybe it was how I approached it.

I didn’t need to move to punish myself.
I could move to celebrate myself.
Once I started doing what felt good—like blasting music—I actually looked forward to workouts.

That’s how I created my little concept of Jazzy Movement.
It’s about joy over judgement, rhythm over rigidity.
It’s cardio with soul.

So if you’re dreading your workouts lately, maybe it’s not you. Maybe it’s the vibe. Try turning up the music—and see what happens. 🎶💃
